We started the “letter of the week’ work, we glued ‘ants’ on a paper apple.  There is a little display in the classroom  with each week’s letter. Towards the end of the week , they were pointing to the ‘A’  and commenting on it. This was great!   The rug in our classroom has letters around the edge; each ‘circle time’ the students are encouraged to sit on the letter that starts their name. They are beginning  to recognize their letters, which is an achievement.

We continue to learn about the ‘Three Little Pigs’ story; they loved listening to the story. They were giggling and smiling as I said the ‘I’ll huff and  puff’ part! Each student created a collage/picture about this story. They glued straw, sticks and paper bricks onto pictures of three houses with three little pigs. Once again they liked using the glue. This activity was carried out one on one with the teacher. This gives plenty of opportunity for discussion , this develops their vocabulary and language skills.

Next week ‘Buckle Bear’ will visit. This is a presentation about seat belt safety. RMAE Middle School students help out with the presentation. I am sure my students will love meeting Buckle Bear.
