We came back from the long weekend in full force. After our morning music lesson with Mr. Williams, we had a surprise appearance from Buckle Bear and Drive Smart. The children were weighed and measured to ensure they are riding in the appropriate car seats, sang songs stressing the importance riding quietly in the car and making sure ALL passengers are buckled up. We have begun our Letter of the Week program with the children starting their first page in their Alphabet Books, reinforcing the letter sound and bringing A/a items from home for Show and Share. We have also begun our new unit—My Body. We are starting this unit by learning about our skeleton by creating pasta skeletons with the help of our “Big Kid Buddies”–7th and 8th graders from the main school. The Big Kid Buddy program is an elective that runs throughout the year with the 7th and 8th graders planning a theme related/ age appropriate lesson plan to share with our class as well as teach it. This is the 3rd year for this program; it has been very successful and ALL the students love and look forward to our time spent together. We incorporated nursery rhymes into our music and movement this week, while skipping and playing fun games. The children enjoyed tasting three different colored apples and charting their reaction to each one. It was a busy week of learning and fun.
